Hi Rew,

Lovely and expressive portrait of another typical New Zealander. :D It's true that in this photo, and especially the B&W one she looks somewhat shy and not entirely relaxed, but this also adds to the charm and sincerity of the expression in the photos, and as she gets used to seeing such pics, she may develop more confidence.

Seems that, like me, you like clean white backgrounds. Wile these are occasionally criticised as too boring, I appreciate them for the way in which they draw attention to the subject and make it stand out. I'd guess you see this too.

I hope you'll continue your experiments in B&W, as I think there's a lot of potential there. It's partly personal taste, of course, but I've always found that colourless portraits have a special quality about them.

Nice of you to include the original shot too, to show how much of a difference some good PP work can do.

Love this shot and her look is very expressive; kind of a mona lisa for the 00's. My only critique would be that I'd love to see her on a 'graffiti' or 'urban' backdrop as her clothing and expression lend themselves quite well to the 'anime' look. Otherwise, sweet as mate!

Very good pose makes whole composition works well!
Yep b&w interesting too, but totally different no comparison.
U always do everything according to traditional and mandatory rules!!
It's not for me i would die from boredom and also makes me feel like all those portraits are same!!
Remember i have got hyperactivity of sensors!
And i need everything that is HYPER strong different creative colorful..i'm not so long for portraits!!

I can't get over that smile. That's a great capture! Your lighting is great and way more complex than I could do.

I just think that in your post-processing work has removed a bit of the character from the overall photo. She seems to be floating in the blank white space around her. I personally think that there should be something to ground her; like a shadow somewhere around her feet as in the original shot.

Speaking of her feet: what about those shoes? She's so put together. Her clothes are great, her hair is perfect, her positioning ideal, and the ratty shoes say otherwise. I understand that this was unprompted, but photographically, I don't think they work.

I don/t think that B&W is quite appropriate for this photo. Her shirt really holds this photo together. Her expression doesn't hold up without the vibrant color in the shirt.

Hi Rew, I missed this one before. A lovely natural model well composed with all white background. She has a particularly cheeky expression, like many of the locals here in Shenyang where i am at present. It may be called an inegmatic expression or something like that. TFS. Murray.
