The approaches to many ports often take travellers through parts of cities that must work for their living. The approach to Riga up the riverDaugava is no exception as the ferry from Stockholm edges though huge areas of derelict dockland, riverside loading facilities and vast pile of coal, fetiliser and timber.
Even on a grey February morning, the mix of colours at this loading facility resembled, just a little, a childs toy |
