something a little different.

The beauty of these cranberries shining like jewels in the strong sunlight streaming through my kitchen window really caught my eye. The shadows they cast on my cutting board really got me going. LOL! I moved the colander several times just to see the different pattern shapes revealed. Lots of fun for me, but then I don't get out much . . . I shot them a BUNCH of times.

In this shot, the shadows cast by the berries somewhat resemble a prickly pear cactus -- lots of those grow in my corner of the world. I'd like to cut that shadow out and flip it to see if I can make it into a "cactus" pic, but I don't know how to do that yet.

I cropped just a little on the left; bumped contrast to +40;filters: sharpen edges, grain (it seemed to calm down the "shininess" just a tad), USM 20/60/0 -- a formula suggested to me by another member :) then resized and saved to web.

I hope it seems a "happy" shot -- the beautiful berries and the strong sun made for some nice moments in my kitchen.

I welcome any and all comments/critiques. Thanks

Hey CK,
This is a very happy shot :)
This is really nice and natural...
I like your contrastiness, it has a great affect (ok, is it "affect" or "effect"? I have an English test about this sort of thing in about 10 minutes...Guess I should go find out quickly :)
TFS, gotta get to class
~Stacey :D

Great shot CK, I really like the bright vibrent colours and the contrasting shadows, well done :)

I can understand why this scene caught your eye. And you have captured it well. I love the many different textures. There is much to like in this photo...the contrast, the shadow play, the colors and the creative thought behind it all. TFS..:O)

Hi, CK--
This is a wonderful still life, with the strong play of light and shadows seeping through the collander. Very nice.
