[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
One of the original lighthouses commissioned for the 13 colonies and dating back well over 200 years, Portland Head Light is near my childhood home and remains one of my favorite places to remember and to visit. For more on the history of this beacon, the Portland Head Light page on the “New England Lighthouses: A Virtual Guide” web site is interesting and informative.

Post-processing for the Friday theme was cropping and a sepia conversion in HP Photosmart Premier, sharpening, sizing, and framing in The Gimp. I've added a slightly rotated workshop version to respond to those who felt the horizon was slightly askew.

Hello Jim
What a wonderful idea to take an super old lighthouse to convert.. this really looks like an older shot! They sky give is a very nice feeling...

Tricia

hello Jim,
seems really an old postcard,
good job and use of sepia

best regards sERGIO

Hi Jim,

Maine is one of my next travel destinations. I've heard from a friend that lives in Windham that it's been just a little snowy this year! This is a beautiful capture of the light house. I love all of the sharp details and contrasts of the coast. Could the horizon be straightened a tad, or is it just me?

great sepia effect. Lisa

nice POV, just a pity your framing is not straight, it's obvious with the tilted horizon line
regards
jo

Great photo in sepia
The frame makes it look even older

Hi Jim ,
The sepia medium works very well here ,fine subject to show the 'Old Times' ambiance and feel a place like this evokes for i believe this lighthouse has been standing there for a very long time .Jim ,i do agree with Lisa and Jonathan about the 'tilted 'horizon .The lighhouse itself leans to the right just a tad .A slight level correction and it's perfect.
Carol

You have given it a colonial look for sure....my family dates back to all of the New England area in the 1600's till today...including Maine...6 of the 10 original purchasers of Nantucket were my grandfathers!
