Here are again a series of photos, FYI, about life at schools in the tribal areas of north Andhra Pradesh : this is about the pause for lunch.
=> next photo : food distribution by the teacher
... In each of those schools (ideally, like here), there is a very useful water pump (hello, Francine ! ;-))) :
the children take turn to wash their own plate before and after the meal, also their faces, hands and feet ; a good occasion to play sometimes ! (NB : there is not yet a rubbish collecting system in this village and the dustbin system has not reached those remote corners either ; children seemed otherwise very clean in in good physical condition !)
The state of Andhra Pradesh is a bit in advance compared to some other neighbouring states in the sense that it has built a lot of primary schools (including also boarding schools in larger towns and cities where education, as well as food and accomodation are free). Those lunches are generally copious and payed for by the state government. |
