Dear friends,
if you look underneath the first arch in this picture, a bridge can be seen in the far distance.
This in actual fact is under a mile away and as you would imagine, having seen it form the other spot, I made a quick dash for this location after i finished shooting Kew Bridge.

Again here no fancy artificial/flood lighting of this bridge - infact as I soon found when I arrived here, a rather humble looking bridge if you ask me.
But this did not stop me taking a few shots at it though - with a woman also nervously observing me from her window amongst the homes that were behind me as I shot this :-)

Being now much darker, exposure needed to be approached carefully - including even shooting at F/4 in one instance (something I'm normally reluctant to do - as i always prefer smaller apertures at night).

On arriving here, a number of factors immediately attracted my interest. The Thames at very low tide here this night looks really sleepy and calm and i couldn't help immediately imagining what it would look like with a long exposure.

So here I exposed for 20 seconds at F/4.
In the other exposures/POVs of this particular bridge, I exposed for as long as 70 seconds ( @ smaller aperture).
For those who always ask questions on metering/exposure, I should say preemptively here that to get the most desirable results each time, you MUST meter for EACH shot/scene - because lighting conditions differ - sometimes considerably.

One "ideal" or "Auto this-or-that" setting may not always work. And in the long run, you will tend to enjoy it more when the camera is in Manual -- allowing you more control and creativity.

Anyway, thanks again for looking :-)

Hi Damiel ;)
wonderful composition, colors and reflection...TFS
Best,
J ;)

Hi Daniel - this doesn't have the immediate "WOW" impact of so many of your shots, the beauty is far more subtle I think.

The bridge itself is far more simple(I like your use of 'humble') and the lighting is less dramatic. But the composition is excellent and there is good sharpness on the cross-hatches at the side of bridge.

The 20 second exposure really has worked well on the water - smooth, glassy, great reflections. This is a lovely addition to your 'Bridges of London' collections and a great note to go with it - excellent stuff!

You found another bridge! :)
Perfect colours and light, again!
Nice atmosphere!
Excellent done!

This is so gorgeous Daniel. The light shining on the bridge is enough to make this composition stunning. You have captured in pristine sharpness and clarity. The shadow and the sky complemented well with this diagonal perspective of the bridge. Regards. Jusni

sometimes "auto" is the best LOL....

no joking. Agree on metering on different spots especially since there are more than one light source. Very good result with the clarity and details considering you use F4 for this

Great color effects in this scene that make the reflections and light work well with the complimentary sky. I also like seeing the structural details of the bridge, and the bright spot of light draws the eye along the lines within the composition to rest easily at that spot. Appealing shot:)

Hi Daniel,

Wonderful work.

Hello Daniel
That bridge is very elegant and very well captured. I love your end of day photos and his one here has a beautiful reflexion. I love those railroad bridges, they are so straignt and flat, not arched like road bridges. Great control of the light and artistic composition
Nicely done

Hi Daniel,

This one is a bit different to your more "usual" shots. Less laterns or lights i guess. Still, it's a great shot, fine reflection in the water and good compostion. Very pleasing outcome i might add..
How many bridges are left in GB for you to shoot? :-)

Best regards,

Edwin

Hello Daniel,

You are an expert at metering now!
This is just fabulous!
I love the richness of the ruby red on the banking, the bridge and in the water! The reflections are lovely - this would have made a good entry into the reflections theme! I find it interesting to note how the round, tight lamplight has been stretched into a long lantern shape in the reflection!

Kind regards,
Bev :-)
many thanks for your warm comments on my rudbekkia.
I always enjoy receiving your critiques!

Beautiful red tones and reflections. Your night/dusk photos have an unique, personal touch.

Hi Daniel,
The redish and blue make such a beautiufl combination! Amazing reflections. The leaves (if my eyes don't deceive me) floating on the water are also a very nice characteristic for this wonderful photo.

Hello, Daniel! Just browsing through your amazing gallery... What I particularly like here is the perspective for one thing, the architecture of the bridge and the way the leaves are gathered in the water to one side, forming a lace-like pattern. The dof and light, just perfect, as usual!
My best regards and profound admiration,
Diana
