[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
this is only a simple snap taken from a boat on the water, just at the harbour mouth to Centre Island in the Toronto Harbour. Submitted for Helen's Friday theme.

I know that it is far from perfect - I chose it in haste for several reasons we need not go into here.
I was planning to delete it after I find something more suitable to thank some very special people. But now I can't.

I can't because so many very special people have come forward and left their own messages on it. And their messages have to stay.

As Boonie said: "the comments of your friends need to remain ... for all to see. They are expressing their love.... This is the true message of TL."

Thanks for looking. Thanks for being there. Thanks ... ... ...

Special thanks to some very special people, including Pierre Frigon, David Gumprich (Refugee), Tricia Treen, Rew Shearer, Scott Hale, Dawn McKenzie, Andy Manning (Toucan1967) and Kilted Arab for defending my honour. If you know who else helped out, please let me know. Their names all belong in my heart.

Hi Silke
I aprer. this for a gift
Thank you
Cheers,Braca

Oh, you're gonna hate me for this...aiyah!!!

OK, I like the composition, I like the subject matter, I like the idea - all that is good. And I love the wee duck swimming into view!

But...I think there are some sharpness issues and a lack of vibrancy in the colours. I think f8 maybe too small, f5.6 or thereabouts and a faster shutterspeed may have helped. Or possible even a b/w conversion?

Sorry Silke, but I think I'll go with a '1' on here. I feel so rotten about that, especially given the note, but....aiyah! sorry!

HI Silke
Beautiful point of view, great colors, good light and nice reflections, very well composed and presented, Bravo.

Many year ago I was here at the hall to the left at a concert of Rod Steward. Thanks for this reminder.
Best wishes,

That's a loooooooooooooong reflection for sure !
Maybe not the best sharpness but still a great contribution to the theme.

Hi Lotl,
A fine impression of Toronto my dear, an excellent contribution to the theme too! Composition is great, the duck on the forground is a nice detail. Well a fine posting again my dear Silke.
Hans

Very good capture.
The immensity of the water, the size of the tower and that duck :-).
Well seen
Pierre
PS: Probably was that time of the month for her. Reminds me of another nut :-).

Hello Silke.
This is very interesting picture. Nicely composed with great view of this tower. The duck bring something extra to the shot.
I agree with Richard regarding colours but it is still great photo worth showing. Definitively not a simple snapshot.

Hi Silke

A nice entry in the reflections theme. Good sharpness, colour and composition. Have a wonderful weekend!

Hello Silke,
I like the composition here.
Also view is good. I would like to see some more freshness in colors. TFS

Hello Silke

I see a certain subliminal note in this posting, maybe you didnt realise it yourself but I think you posted this from the heart. the water line and the little duck at the front are clear and razor sharp they know exactly where they are going. There is a very small area just now thats possibly just a tad lacklustre in colour (dont allow this minority to trouble you) but look at the tall building.. standing firm and proud.. good strong reflection in the ripples. its the one thing that shows through clearly..So on "reflection" my dear i think for you this was the perfect post for the theme today.

"Stand firm and when "reflecting" look to the strong and straight and not the weak and lacklustre"

TFS and for joining in the theme

Kindest regards Helen

Hi Silke,
This must be the record for the longest reflection, not the sharpest of shots but I like the POV and the duck adds nice foreground intrest.

Silke - nice capture of the TP icon and its long footprint in the water.
Sharpness a bit off but still gives a good overview.

TFS when it probably wasn't what you felt like at the time.

Hello Silke,

First, let me say, that your honour is never in question! In this context, debate should be about issues and not personal! You have no conscience on that count, my friend! You are loved and respected for your talent and your helpful critiques!

About your photograph, I know you agree with Richard, but for such a long distance, I think the sharpness is quite acceptable!
The composition is spot on, the light and reflections are very good and the inclusion of the duck really is the icing on the cake!
Sometimes there is room for advice and differences of opinion, sometimes a photograph can just be enjoyed for what it is, good!

Kind regards,
Bev :-)

Hi Silke,
Excellent POV on this well known tower! Very good management of the light and reflections on the lake! I like this smooth ambiance so relaxing!
Please, don't mind of the negative forum threads! I don't read it often because I cannot take part because of my bad English. You can to hold up your head! You are a great and generous member on the site.
Bravo ! Annie

It is good to remember that in mirror pictures one should set the mirrorsplit on half height. Here your duck would not survive such an action.
The view is nice deep and knife sharp.

hi silke!
wonderful reflection with this duck :)
i like it.

Hello Silke.
Good looking holiday picture. The duck in the forground gives it a good filling up.

We all see images through our personal frame of reference and mine tells me that I give this image high marks for the spot on sharpness of the FG water and the little ducky. And of course your looooooooog reflection.

Please don't remove this image, the comments of your friends need to remain in space for all to see. They are expressing their love. They are deserved. This is the true message of TL.

A lovely and heart fell tribute Silke. I really like the composition with the little duck and CN tower. Very Canadian image. Colours are true and lovely, the crop is perfect, there is just something missing from your usual perfect shot. There is nothing missing from your heartfelt message. You don’t need your honor protected, to those of us who know there is no question. So please keep doing things the way you do, helping us gently to be better, people and photographers.

Hi Slke,

Different POV for the CN Tower than the usual stuff... I would have waited a few seconds before taking the picture (ie.. the bird in line with the CN Tower reflection in the water). Good work.

BigBen

PS Thx for your comments on my first picture

That is one long reflection Silke, and posted this early in the morning ^-^.

About your honour, that will be upheld no matter what some people try to do - there are feelings of jealousy and some people don't like that other people are loved. So try to forget the whole episode and enjoy your weekend, your sweetheart and TL.

Hi there Silke...

I like the ripple effect of the water and duck in the foreground, very nice, as a reflection photo I feel its not that reflective because of the water surface not being completly still.. but it does give movement which is always nice to capture..

Understand how you are feeling....when you posted this..
Thank you for the mention..BUT you are welcome.

Hi Silke,
Very soothing capture of the Toronto skyline seen making a riffling refelection in the slightly disturbed water of this lake harbor. The silver blue colors make a relaxing contrast to the green banks and the lone duck anchors and adds nice definition to this lovely image.
Regards, Tom

wonderful reflection my darling.. i like the vertical pov.. all is vertical here.. nice expo.. really perfect!! quiet and pacefully atmosfere.. forms are superb!! beautiful contribution for the theme!! brava!
ciao Marco
;) soon

What are friends for Silke? I see where Richard is coming from with the softness of the trees. All else is fine though, well composed, good colour and a wonderful effect on the water. TFS,
David

Many thanks for your comment on ‘Reflections/reflecting’

Ah yeah, a little off on the sharpness, but I LOVE the squiggely reflection of the tower in the water! and yes the wee ducky makes the shot nice! Eh...every now and then we get a lemon...but the point is to allow us common folk the chance to sharpen our critiquing skills!!!
B-)
