Arecaceae or Palmae (also known by the name Palmaceae, which is taxonomically invalid[1]), the palm family, is a family of flowering plants belonging to the monocot order, Arecales. There are roughly 202 currently known genera with around 2600 species, most of which are restricted to tropical, subtropical, and possibly warm temperate climates. Most palms are distinguished by their large, compound, evergreen leaves arranged at the top of an unbranched stem. However, many palms are exceptions to this statement, and palms in fact exhibit an enormous diversity in physical characteristics. As well as being morphologically diverse, palms also inhabit nearly every type of habitat within their range, from rainforests to deserts.

Palms are one of the most well-known and extensively cultivated plant families. They have had an important role to humans throughout much of history. Many common products and foods are derived from palms, and palms are also widely used in landscaping for their exotic appearance making them one of the most economically important plants. In many historical cultures, palms were symbols for such ideas as victory, peace, and fertility. Today, palms remain a popular symbol for the tropics and vacations .

Thanks to Vandana And Dot Dion as i was confused in the name of this plant.

Hi Vaibhav.
Quite an interesting picture you presented here.
Pity, not both sides are equally lighted.
But good looking it is.

The Green is lovely here..
Excellent.

Hello Vaibhav
Very original presentation and a great contribution the today's theme. I love the gradation of the different tones aand the symetry. A note explaining the technique and the kind of leaf that was used would have been interesting. You need not write the EXIF in the note since it appears in the photo information to the left.
Regards from Québec.

Hello Vaibhav
Very nice composition of these lines for the theme.
The light dispersed unevenly makes it interesting showing us a light and dark side. I am guessing its some kind of fern or from a palm tree.
Dot

Hi Vai,

a unique perspective on this palm leaf. it looks like rib bones. i think it need a bit more sharpness. good try, friend.

I like it very much. An excellent composition, it's artistic.

Iso.

A beautiful and almost 3-D interpretation of light and dark. I really like the fact that despite it being a very graphical image, there's a real sense of organic to it as it isn't exactly symmetrical. Great lighting and extremely well taken. Regards, Paul.

Namaste Vaibhav,

Superb observation in capturing this graphical presentation with light and pattern. The silenced background is making the image really pops.
