[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
well, 2 hours or so after my empty bench shot, i returned to the same place and found this scene. our winters are not thaaat cold (we have waves of cold/rain which come from Argentina, and they last two or three days at the most) so, i decided to share with you some dramatic b&w.

this time i took notes of the pp :))

1. desaturated
2. adjusted brightness/contrast (+ both)
3. added grains (regular - 24/56)
4. cropped a lil bit on the left hand side and on the right hand side)
5. i discovered other alternatives in the menu bar ;))
a. gradien map (set to b&w)
b. THERESHOLD!!! (fantastic!) (184, but i played with it)
here it is. comments/suggestions very much welcome.

This is so much like you (and so much like Torben , I wonder if you're not twins thorn apart when you were born by the way).

It is already a great composition before the post processing. Striking shot, taken sharp with tight crop. I like the "diagonal desencontrada ;o)", and now understand perfectly what you meant with that term. I like how the children are close to each other, sharing the warmth of their bodies and friendship. The man is passing by like a menace to that friendship, like a dark cloud coming over a world where the sun shines bright. The man almost doesn't have a head. We don't know what he's up to. I personnally don't like him. I would want to stop his movement and don't let him reach the children.

Your post processing brings the tragic mood in the composition and the overall movement of the photograph. YOu are discovering what you can do with reality, how you can distort it to an ultimate complexity.

You are very, very good.

A wonderful shot with great composition and a lovely perspective, the PP on this image is excellent, there is nothing to nit pick about this picture, everything is perfect Isabel.
Good work, well done.

Thereshold works briliantly for this pic. I'm not supriced you like it. It is very much Isabelle :) Another great thing with that is to use it when adjusting the pic with curves. You can use it to help find the darkest and the lightes point in a pic and then adjust the curve after this. Gradient map is also a great tool. That is my main way of converting to B&W, the tones become much richer in that way, IMHO. Sometimes i also adjust the pic with the chanell mixer, set to monochrome (In my "On the phone II" i used both these methods when converting)

Grain works great to create the drama in the pic and when comparing to your TE post, i have to say, this was the right way to go, IMHO. Very good pp.

The compo with the strong diagonal is great and the poses of the children makes it very intresting. I kind of start to wonder what they are reading...

great job Isabel!

I liked many things as well : kids' intimacy, man's eye just at the top of the frame looking at them with the corner of his eye, white benches following all the frame diagonally, and the tilted frame..
I liked the post work very much, I am following the "grains" discussion..I do not have much to write, but I am learning from your notes a lot..thanks Isabelle...

Excellent shot Isabelle. Wonderful composition and interesting post processing. I'll have to search for additional buttons too ;-)

Artistic and creative shot and not least the added post work.
Very good job done here Isabel..

Torben has stolen your user name : ) This tilted urban grainy shot is good, i can tell what you trying to get across with your PP. But, the cut off head, and the lack of connection between the people bothers me here for some reason....

Gosto muito desta imagem. Tudo está perfeito,
até o enquadramento "imperfeito".
