Hello Fred
With so much space between your tow subjects, using a longer dof would be a much better idea. I agree with MPR that f/22 might be better. I would also focus on something much closer - just behind the flower, for example , or the flower itself. The mountains are big enough to stand out despite the fact that you focus on the flower

Hi Fred
Your best bet to get both objects in focus is to use a small aperature. Put your 20D in aperature priorty mode and select something like F22. A small aperature will undoubtedly provide you with better depth of field and a better chance of getting what you were hoping to achieve.
