... Part of my series about kolams, here is a parent "art" form :
On festive occasions, "rangolis" are drawn instead of the humble and often simple "kolams", but it's the latter ones that I really prefer.
Specially during the month of the Pongal festival in Tamil Nadu, many of those colourful patterns are drawn on the floor. Of course, they take much more time to complete than the impulsive and often very quickly drawn kolams, such as this other one, but this form of art, although lovely, looks a bit childish IMHO : much less interesting and less personal than the kolams - well, question of taste : probably some of you will disagree.
Charming idea anyway, to draw such colourful designs in front of your doorstep, isn't it ?

Dear Cath,
The beautifull rangoli in a pano vision. The framing here is superb giving it a new concept of light and shade..
The inclusion of the motorbike and the green leaves adds the interesting element of life.
