A transit of Venus across the Sun takes place when the planet Venus passes directly between the Sun and Earth, obscuring a small portion of the Sun's disk. During a transit, Venus can be seen from Earth as a small black disk moving across the face of the Sun. The duration of such transits is usually measured in hours (the transit of 2004 lasted six hours). A transit is similar to a solar eclipse by the Moon, but, although the diameter of Venus is almost 4 times that of the Moon, Venus appears much smaller because it is much farther away from Earth. Transits of Venus are among the rarest of predictable astronomical phenomena and currently occur in a pattern that repeats every 243 years, with pairs of transits eight years apart separated by long gaps of 121.5 years and 105.5 years. Before 2004, the last pair of transits were in December 1874 and December 1882. Le transit de Vénus survient lorsque cette planète passe directement entre la Terre et le soleil. C’est le même principe que pour une éclipse solaire par la lune, à la différence que même si Vénus est plus grande que la lune, elle est tellement plus éloignée de la Terre qu’elle n’apparaît que comme un petit cercle noir se déplaçant devant le disque solaire. Le temps de transit est de plusieurs heures. Les transits de Vénus sont parmi les évènements astronomiques périodiques les plus rares, suivant un cycle de 243 ans pendant lequel on observera deux transits consécutifs séparés par un interval de 8 ans, les paires de transits étant elle-mêmes séparées par 121.5 ou 105.5 ans. Le transit ayant précédé celui de 2004 était en décembre 1882, et nous sommes maintenant presque à mi-chemin du prochain qui aura lieu le 6 juin 2012. (voir http://www.transitofvenus.org/2012.htm )

Nikon F3 with tripod mounted 300mm f2.8 telephoto + 2X teleconverter
Film used: Fuji provia100F color slide film
Photo is a composite of two slides of the same scene taken consecutively at different settings, f22 1/1000 for the sun with Venus in front (the small black dot) and f 5.6 1/250 for the background. No filter was used but I moved the lens away from the sun immediatly after taking the pictures. Slides were scanned with a Nikon Super Coolscan 4000 ED film scanner and both images were combined in Photoshop after contrast and brightness adjustment.. Final image was retouched with clone tool and cropped, resized and framed.

Bonjour Michel,
Merci pour la note, très instructive.
J'aime beaucoup cette version qui s'axe plus sur une vision globale, mais la version TE est vraiment remarquable !

ca c,est une prise cher ami... rien ici n'est le fruit du hazard... pellicule bien choisie, objectif bien astiqué, boitier bien huilé (ou presque.. hihi) du grand MITE. tu viens d'etre nommé chef de mission pour juin 2012 mais cette fois... pas d'alcool ni de lac Megantic... car, de toute évidence, ma tente-roulotte sera scrap pour la suivante si on manque la prochaine ;o)
Michel, le lettrage est trop dominant dans la photo à mon point de vue.
Par ailleurs, la version treak earth est tout simplement sublime!!!!!

Une vue impressionnante de ce phénomène astronomique avec la rangée d'arbres devant. ce qui n'est pas courant pour ce genre de vue, en général. La vue TE est fantastique et la note très instructive. Donc que du tout bon.

Bon, OK, soyons sérieux (comment ne pas être sérieux un samedi après-midi du 12 avril avec de la neige à plein ciel Sainte-Alice).
Impressionnant cette photo. La note encore plus. Les 2 ensembles... génial.
Bémol : La police de caractère un peu grosse, j'aurais minimiser la date au profit du titre.
En plus, j'ai appris qlq chose (incroyable à mon âge !).

Que de précisions intéressantes sur le sujet.
Je te reconnais pleinement.
Ok, la police est un peu grosse, mais le lien internet est des plus pertinent pour choisir le lieu de la mission 2012. L'Australie semble être la meilleure place.
Au fait, l'organisation de la mission 2008, ça avance ?
