| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
| Most of the houses in the capital of Madagascar (antananarivo) are built on the hillsides above the lakes and rice fields on the flat plateau. On the last day of my 18 months in madagascar i went out to photograph the town where i lived- the sun came out of the storm clouds and illuminated the church and houses. A scene il never forget. |

Hello, Paul.
Gosh, I've just now, by chance, seen your pictures. I had, in fact, posted a picture from Madagascar myself and then saw this and your many others.
I can understand how this picture will remind you forever of Tana and its people, especially as you worked there for 18 months. I was only there for just over two weeks and the place captivated me. Unfortunately, when I went in 2001, I very foolishly took some cheap poor-quality film with me so my results were poor. Oh, that I'd had my lovely Canon 20D with me in those days!
From the photographic point of view, this is excellent - well-composed, perfectly exposed, sharp as a pin and with fine colours. From the point of view of the scene itself, you have wonderfully captured the "soul" of Tana, with that slightly run-down look to the buildings, but with that beautiful church standing proudly over all.
I'll be looking at some of your other pictures soon, Paul. Do you have others on TE and TL?
Best Wishes,
John.
