this one was taken during the bellydance show after the desert safari :)
i never wanted to photograph the bellydancer. instead, i found characters such as this man far more interesting to capture :)
i think this man was from India, i guessed it because the ladies with him were speaking Hindi :) which, by the way, is a beautiful, sweet language :)
as soon as the bellydancer emerged from the tent, it was as though someone brought the whole crowd back to life :) it was then that the men (and some ladies) started preparing for videos and photos :)
the reason why i took this shot was because of a huge 'floodlight' type light far behind him, which was creating a nice white outline around him :) but to nail it right, i had to kneel down first, and then duck further to get the light exactly behind him :) i couldn't afford to mess it up anyhow :)
so here it is, the orignial, uncropped version :) slightly edited in Capture NX :) oh and by the way, this was shot at an aperture of 2.8 and ISO 6400 :)
thanks for viewing :) let's see what you think :)

It's a great one! Perfect use of the available light sources - not just the spotlight beyond him creating the rim-light effect, but the ambient light illumnating him from the front. Very good work!

Ah man this is a beaut! So technical but still just so ... epic! And I agree with you ... when I moved to Canada my two first friends were Russian and Hindu ... and it was such a culture shock, but I remember loving my Hindu friend's family so much ... the rich culture wth language/religion and food and all the beautiful clothes/images within the house.
The language just jumps off their tongues, it sounds like they're constantly rhyming ... I'd love to learn it. My native language sounds so violent ... especially when we get angry, then again Canadians say it sounds pleasant compared to real violent languages like German. ;P
But your image ... it's just perfect and 6400!!!!! Ah man, I'm gonna have to get a better job so I can get the D3!! Brilliant image, this images puts a mark in your portfolio! Real nice, TFS!
