Vintage Fly By

I captured this vintage plane at the airport in Freeport, TX the day before hurricane Katrina made landfall in Louisiana. I was helping a friend of mine who is a pilot work a job in this town and we had flown a Cessna down there from Dallas that morning. While we were tying down the Cessna this plane came out and took off. I thought I had missed the opportunity to photograph it as I had not retrieved my camera from our plane yet. While waiting for the rental car desk to open I thought I heard the engine of this plane coming back so I grabbed camera (brand new to me then), slapped on the 70-300mm, flipped it on and set it sports mode and ripped off 7 shots (in two bursts) of the plane as he did a fly by about 70 feet over the runway. It wasn’t until a couple days later I realized I had caught the passenger while he was taking photos. This one was the best focused. Maybe someone out there can identify this plane for me. I’d love to know what it is.
Thanks for looking. |

Very fine capture! The details in plane and passengers are superb
there is a touch of nose in the sky and I think your sensor is in need of cleaning !

Nice shot! Like the Composition and focus. Maybe the photo should have been a bit more Post Processed? I see some gunk on the lens (the spot above the plane) and I wonder whether auto white balance would make a difference.
Well done though!
