This is the flower on the tree in my back yard ("Big Green Leaf"). Does anyone know the name of this tree?

comments/critiques welcome. Thanks

I can almost smell the flower
great shot CK

Hi CK,
Nice macro. Everything is nice and sharp. There's a little overexposure on the flower, in my opinion, actually I'm not sure...but the highlights seem very bright. But, your composition is good--nice and off centered. Yay! ;)
"Promise"...have you heard people call the buds of flower's "promises," too?
Nice job!
Richard

Hello CK I like macros a lot.. not that I am good at them but these photos brings us so much closer to things we take forgranted. Nice colours and DOF. Thanks

DAM

Hi CK! I am fairly sure that this tree is a Catalpa--"catalpa speciosa." Sounds like something from Harry Potter! If it has long seed pods in the fall, that is it for sure. In any case, your photo is a delight! The composition and the warm earth colours add to the delicacy of the blossom--almost looks like an orchid. Wonderful shot! Thanks! Linda
