Something very different from my usual portraits, today!
My first attempt in architectural shot!

Hope you like! :-)

The roman area called EUR (originally E42) is at present a large residential area and business centre, in Rome, Italy, full of elegant villas and embassies.
In urban planning terms, E42 was designed to drive the expansion of the city towards the south-west, connecting it to the sea, with a large road called Viale Cristoforo Colombo.
It was started in 1935 under Benito Mussolini and planned to be a celebration of the Fascism’s grandeur.
Maybe this is the main reason because of, after the end of World War II, it was scornfully underlined as “regime architecture” and almost forgotten in artistic terms.

What a pity!

It is full of interesting architectures, Square Coliseum (Palazzo della Civiltà del Lavoro – Colosseo Quadrato in Italian) being one of the most representative.
If interested you can find its full history in Wikipedia pages.

I think this impressive building can be considered the most important example of “built metaphysical art”, related to Giorgio De Chirico paintings and under the influence of the rationalism and futurism.
You can find something about both artistic movements

ohhh finalmente.. bene.. brava Antonella!!
ciao Marco

Antonella,

Great job contrasting the classical motifs in the arches and the statue with the modern cube of the building.

I would love to see another shot with more of a emphasis on that contrast. I think it would have been great for you to place the statue in a more prominent position with the building behind. You would have lost some of the sky, but I don't think it adds too much to this shot. You may have also lost the text at the top of the building which might be a shame, but I think you could have worked around that.

I still like this photo for its contrast. Congratulations on a great shot.

Simple but yet sharp and beautiful to look at.
Thank you Antonella for sharing this great photo.

Ciao

Ciao Antonella, gran bel taglio di foto di questo bel monumento ingiustamente snobbato dai più a mio parere ingiustamente perchè è ottima architettura, bella foto da un POV ottimo, non sei brava solo con i ritratti:)
Ciao Silvio

Ciao Antonella! Original building, interesting architecture. Wonderful POV. Very good composition. Excuse me, where is Flaminia? Good luck!

Hello Antonella,

Presentazione meravigliosa ed un testo molto culturale!
grazie per dividere tale meraviglia e conoscenza.

Hi Antonella

What a fine looking building full of classic lines. I like the layers of arches. The POV and composition show off the architecture well

Hello Antonella.
I remember I was there 7 years ago. Friends told me a lot about this district in Rome.
Great presentation here on your picture and well composed.
My compliments.

Vaibhav...

Hello Antonella,
I like the feeling of depth in this structure!
Besides the image is very well composed, and with impressive details in the architecture...
Simple, but that is often the most difficult to succeed with!
Greetings,

beh proprio brava!!

Hi Antonella:
AN interesting architectural idea and a nicely taken photo of this building .... I like the POV,light and sharpness... thanks for showing this really interesting building...Roman:0)

Ton titre est vraiment très bien choisi... :-)

Merci.

Hello there

Lovely shot here, excellent sharp image with good detail and texture, nicely angled POV too

TFS regards Helen
