Spiral Stairs in The Convent of the Order of Christ

History
The Convent of the Order of Christ (Portuguese: Convento de Cristo), in Tomar, Portugal, was originally a Templar stronghold built in the 12th century. After the Order of the Knights Templar was dissolved in the 14th century, the Portuguese branch of the order was turned into the Knights of the Order of Christ, which supported Portugal's maritime discoveries of the 15th century.

The Convent of Christ of Tomar is one of Portugal's most important historical and artistic monuments and has been in the World Heritage list of UNESCO since 1983.

Hi Carlos
Looks like a sea shell. Well seen! I like the way the lines on the left fade into the darkness. It's a pitty some of the 'roundings' on the right are cut off by a shadow.

Excellent POV and use of light for a dramatic view of this stairway. I like seeing the textural details of the stonework, and there is an interesting effect created by the spiral. Well done:)

Hi Carlos,
A classic subject, but always nice to make a picture off. I like the composition by the dark sides and the way the silhouette of the stairs appear.
Well done,
Ruut

Ola' Carlos,
Fascinating image you got here. Nice write up too.
Well done.

Hi Carlos,

The first thing it reminded me of was a snail! Not just because of the shape, but also the colour and characteristic of the material. The lines in it. Always pleasant, such views. Thanks for sharing!

Greetings, Dennis
