I would have done exactly the same thing! How can one resist such pattern and repetition?

I like the small touch of blue/green in the image.

I think I'd crop off the brown railing, Illi, creating a more square-like format. Somehow it doesn't fit in all the white hues. The angle you chose was good, but maybe stepping forwards for a pace or two would have showed the centre of the spiral?
