When I was out for my walk last night I came across some girls getting riding lessons and thought it would be a good chance for me to TRY action shots.

Ah, Karen,
this is great!! The light and color are perfect, beautiful sharp detail and I love that bright splash of orange in contrast to the more subdued colors around her. This is terrific and many thanks. Hope all is well,
Shelly

Hi Karen,

It's a great action shot . .

Sharp . .
Well done my dear friend

Hi Karen,
You should have shouted to the girls to ride faster :) I noticed the image quality of your recent photos are much sharper ... you have a new camera? Anyway, good experimentation with good result. One way you can possibly enhance the photo is to crop the top bit to cut the roof of the house. But overall a good photo. Well done! tfs
Cheers,
Renier

Nicely captured Karen. The rider is all in focus, and the horse looks like he is moving well too. Good shot for a practice :)

Dear Karen,
the tired face of this horse and the smiling face of this girl make interesting contrast in this shot.
and the ground makes nice texture and their shadows on it.
moving legs of blurred image are nice to express the walking.
thank you for your successful shot,
Akihisa

hi Karen

Wow! One of my favorite thing to do, horse back riding :) Really nice to gallop through the woods. A good happy shot.

This photo sure shows that the rider is enjoying the lesson and you captured the action very well too

Hi Karen..good for you..this will be fun...at 1/320 sec you can see some of the blur on the hoofs. If she was trotting or galloping you would have seen some real motion blur...

For slow walking you can go down to even 1/100 sec depending on the focal length of the lens...as they speed up raise the speed up to 1/500 sec for really fast action...When you pan, practice the smooth follow through and use the burst mode on the camera (if you have one)...good luck and nice job.
