Well named Vandana
On this kind of shot you grab what you can and not bad at all. Good tribute to John's birthday. Waves are well captured with contrast between the blue and white.
The horizon is almost deat center, Mmmmmmm!

Yes you are right its a peaceful and quite shot. As you have said that it was spontaneous and you couldnt get time to open big aperture here is fine because you never know when you come up with a shot like this. A very beautiful gift for John Tulip.

Great reflexes and a great shot,
I had a gull come at me once that way, got the shot but paid the price with it relieving itself all over me and the camera as it swooped by. You seemed to have better luck, and I'll admit, you came out with the better shot as well as clean. ;0)

I like the shore line, Vandana. Great picture with the bird being a bonus. Shoot multiple images maybe? If a follow up shot had the heron above the horizon line .....
