i thought i'd better hurry up and post something to the scavenger hunt as it's not a very long one this time! i hope the fact that this is a 'reclining' letter D would not be considered cheating ihih :-) i don't have the energy to do too much scavenging and looking around at the moment so while i was taking pictures on campus last tuesday i thought the wonderful arched window of one of my favourite buildings at the university made a rather nice D ^_^

i have a huge passion for architecture and beautiful old buildings.. it just fills me with joy to marvel at what human hands and minds are capable of creating even in something so necessary and functional as a building.. a philosophy of artistic creativity and expression that i find sadly lacking these days... not to mention the philosophy of creating man made structures that can actually be in harmony with the beauty of natures architecture and not always at war... anyway, i'm putting together a large series of architectural and landscape shots from the university campus which i hope to post in the future..

this building used to be where my fathers office was in the late 80's when i visited as a child.. so i have a lot of funny memories of it! now it's been cleaned up and completely remodeled and has become a really posh place reserved for the university big wigs.. but i'll always remember the slightly crumbly and worse for wear building with no elevators (and endless stairs!) always bustling full of students and atmosphere that i used to hang out in :-)

***

this was shot freehand in bright sunlight looking up at the window above the doorway of Harker Hall, i cropped some of the bottom off the original shot to focus more on the D in the window.

other than the crop PP was minimal, just resized, made grayscale, usm, levels adjustment and framing/signing

thanks for visiting ^_^

Oh yes there's beauty in the details here, a real nice b&w shot. If I could tell to the others come in and see as it's beautiful because on the thumbnails it was nor evident.
Congrats.

"D" I see it!!! The shot in itself id great, but my favourite part are the reflections on the window, which are wonderfully bright and sharp! You have a steady hand Ayda ;-) Excellent note like always :-)))

hello,
Law-D dah....It just came out Ayda and has nothing to do with your beautiful shot. Well besides wordplay....hehe. The stone work on this building is awesome, especially around the window. Ahh the window... with some fantastic reflections in there, great job with this. I really really like the window reflections and the contrast with the building. Great processing and exposure for this beautiful grayscale. Glad you got some fresh air. Take care.

your search of geometric simetries in buildings is powerfull.... and you are helped in a very good eye (and fantasy too)....
But your notes give me the idea you are a professor.... as you like in the post for Richard's theme ;-)))
well done
Paolo

Very cool perspective and I like the reflections of the trees in the glass. Good capture.

I agree with you about beauty,we can't live without a such kind of beauty,
overall architecture is the mainly important one cause it's all around us.
Well captured view, gray tone and reflex works very well to increases the image charme.
Brava.

Fabulously seen, well done!

Nicely detailed shot Ayda, perfect for the hunt, nice architecture too. Love the use of black and white for the shot really does emphasise the stone work.
