Fears are things that makes our lifes very hard. We can't think normal if we are afraid of something. We can not do things that other people can. Our decisions are limited because we can't make just one step in something new or something old. Sometimes that are so simple things.

Few years ago I meet a woman on my vacation. I use to see her every day on the beach, laying on the sun, but don't swimm. After some days she start to talking. She can make one step in the sea and wash her body with hands, and if water is more than 50 cm she must make step back. She have terrible fear of swimming, of been surrounded by the water.
With this photo I try to present fear, fight with fear and joy of bee in water.

I lay in the bath and try to hold breath. Nice that I have remote controler and I could shoot when my head is under the water.

Cool picture Carmela and also quite dramatic...it's seems really that you are succumbing! I like a lot the many waterbubble and the amazing reflex made by it.
Great job,congrats.
Edie

Hi Carmela,
I remember those films like "ring" or "dark water"..
Perfect title introducing this impessive composition..
Congrats!

Hi Carmela !
Great work, sensitive note about our fears ...
How gifted you are ! Now you can make photos when under water ... The result is amazing and fearful ! I feel as if I had difficulties to breathe.
Congrats for this impressive shot !
Sylvie

Amazing shot Carmela, looks like a mosaic tile picture. Great idea well executed. And wonderful note.

Peter

Very interesting experiment and it illustrates well your note about fear. The blue tonality makes the photograph even go beyond the primary feeling of fear, because it creates a cold and scary atmosphere, related to claustrophobia or even death. Creative.

Hi Carmela, I like your imagination, creativity and deliberate attempts to display raw emotions. This image looks a little erie, like a crime scene photo. I can sense the fear. Nice work, B

hello charms.
Another large and beautiful photograph, I like much the color of water and this boiling kind. This appearance of blur still reinforces the atmosphere that this photograph releases. Cheer and friendships.

hello charmes. Une autre grande et belle photo, j'aime beaucoup la couleur de l'eau et cette sorte bouillonnement.
Cette apparence de flou renforce encore l'atmosphère que cette photo dégage.
Bravo et amitiés.

Excellent work Carmela!! I love swimming, I love to be in the water so much that no matter how much I keep telling myself that is a shot about fear! fear! fear! I cannot feel it!! It's no use, I could lie and write here what everybody else feels while looking at it, but I am stupidly honest and I will tell you the truth: When I look at your image I see pure bliss :) I love to be in the water just a little bellow the surface in that same position you are, just looking up at the world, everything filtered in that beautiful blue! Absolute pleasure, absolute relaxation, pure bliss.
So, there you have it. A tottaly different critique. But when it comes to congratulations I team up with everybody else :) Congratulations on a excellent composition. (I wish I had a remote!)
Bye!

Carmela, the shot is amazing!
You succeeded very well to show the despair and fear of being under water. Your face expression is terrific!
The effect of the waves and the colors creates a claustrophobic mood and the distortion is a good reference to the distortion life that we have when fears take control over us!
Congrats and more Congrats!!
Marisa

It work so crazy! The water is too clear for that.. But my first impression was, i person dying under a clear water. Turn the water in a brown influence and it will be... Less beautifull... more realistic.

But like that... It became a surreal view... Have the curious impression you have something in the mouth that make you cant scream before you were in water. Murder?

Fantastic!

i find this photo scary...like something from a movie when they pull a dead body out of the water...
the thumbnail actually looks even more scary lol
great impact and very cool idea, the ripples make it look like something from a river or swamp

great job :)

u are really creative, compliments! i love the note and also your photo, so meaningful and also at the same time beautiful.

Hi Carmela,
Very strong image. Ugggh...I am not a swimmer, and this looks to me like being drowned and dead (good pick on that cold blue color)...frightening! I feel like I'm having trouble breathing looking at this. I'm not as bad as that lady you met, though...I do walk about in water...but only so far...well...you know...can't swim. ;P But, I don't let my inability to not allow me to feel the movement of the sand under feet when the wave goes out... It's a shame she'll never let herself feel that. Must have been something traumatic that happened. Anyhow...good statement...fear can indeed take some sweet joys from us.
Take care!
Richard

Wow Carma, this desrves to go on show in a gallery. Straight into my (very limited on TL so far) favourites.

One of the most beautiful elements we've got: Water :-) Well, words written by a semi-pro ;-) Only thing I do really fear when swimming off-shore are jellyfish... another but painful story...
Aweful work, Carmela. And very well figured, showing both, the pain some people may feel and the beauty of the element itself. Great subtle and emotional shot. TFS.

wow...when i first saw this image i thought of suicide rather then fear, guess it shows what kind of mind i have, anyway. I find this a very dramatic and touching image. It make me feel quite uncomfertable to look at for too long. It might have been an idea to open your eyes just to add an element of horror. What i do like is the ringlets in the water, shows its resent and gives of the idea of a struggle so could also be murder! This image has really got me thinking, LOVE IT!!

Firthy xx

Wow!..this is great.great idea as well.

Bravo for your inginuity for creating this scene. It is fabulous. It fits well with your note about the fear of water. The light and shadows on the water is perfect. Very, very well done Carma.
I must return with a big happy face for you.

quel sensualité dans cette image!!
c'est magnifique!
je m'incline devant un tel travail!
bravo CARMELA!
bye....tanbinh.

WOW.... Carmela you have outdone your self here. It is so creative and interesting that your note really and trulyl represents the photograph. Nice all around, with saturation and effects. Thanks

DAM

The patterns created by the water are outstanding - as is the rest of the image :)

this is amazing Carmela! my goodness you were brave to try a shot like this.. but artisticly it was well worth it! the result looks quite surreal and so striking.. and the message... the message is a very important one... i've suffered from crippling fears of one sort or another since i was a child... i grew out of fears like water or ghosts or axe murderers but grew into the endless array of fears of not being good enough which i think are probably the most crippling and self distructive of all... so i can understand was this woman was feeling all too well.. and you've created a wonderful post to tell that story :-)

great work!

Ayda

Hard picture to lookat. So strong. Everything is there to get the symbol.

COngrats this is a masterpiece.

Incroyable, cela ressemble à une momie sortie tout droit d'un cauchemard de David Lynch ... superbe, elle me donne la chair de poule.
Bravo ... Antonio

Great image Carmela. The effect that you created is really impressive, and your note further enhances what you wanted to get across.

I feel fear, terror, dread, distress, anxiety when I see the picture. It's a real good one

Wow, undoubtedly one of the best horror film posters I have seen on TL so far. The idea is extremely good, and the efforts you went through remarkable, but I also find the PP work excellent. It really depicts fear, and incidentally also the fear of discovering a dead body in the water.

i love it!!!!....

thanks for sharing..

Really that composition was excellent. Very creative and well accomplished!
congratulations Carmela..

BRILLIANT! what creativity in depicting this image of fear. The hair spread out, the blue colour and the water ripples together they all make. How interesting that you actually 'played the part' in order to get this scene. It must have taken quite a bit of planning to execute such a shot. Congratulations on this one of a kind photograph.

This is an amazing image that successfully evokes the fear you described in your note. The colour gives it a cold mood while the blur grabs our deepest fears..and give a chill.

AMAZING!

This is all about photography! when the viewer feels the photo then you know you have been suceded in your work.

To be honest i had already tried to write something regarding this photo a few time, but there's always something that prevent me from doing it...

The day has come, i think this is probably one of the more disturbing photos that i've seen in TE/TL, however i like it... i love the PP work, i love your hair like ink, your mouth like a lizzard...

I think i've overcome my own fear

Mario

A nightmare, for sure, Carma!

Your presentation is very impactful.

You've got a strong concept and realized it ingeniously.

Personally, for me the main context here is not the fear, but I percept it as reality--I mean pain during a catastrophe.

It's a 100% psychic work and you are quite brave to create such artwork.

It's so, so sorrowful that there is death in our reality. But that IS less than Life's delight! We need to gather our courage and overpass our fears to see the truth, at least if we are sincere with ourselves.

BTW, the circular waves in your cretion remind me of Freud's bubbles :)

Congratulations Carma for such a successful result!
And thank you for the great presentation, which is my today's bread.
Garo

Hi Carmela,

Today you were my target and browsed your gallery. You got a good collection and ideas you chose were awesome and completed without an error left behind.

I Liked the idea of this picture. As you tried to show it a fight against fear you did it well.

The thing i like the post is you took this picture your self so it was a luck to get it right because your eyes were in the water ;)

The click of the remote was a luck click.

Well done and TFS.

With best regards,
Muhamamd Usman Ali

iam amazed you just capture the fear so good!the blue color tha t u use makes the victim frozen like dead!!!!actually this photo and the all story about it freaks me out !!well done
