First off, happy Canada Day. Second, this is my lovely wife Jen, and as you can see we are expecting or second. Since I bought my flash, I have wanted to get out and try to get some shots where the sky is underexposed and the subject is exposed properly. I hadn't planned on doing this today, so I didn't have the off shoe cable with me so on the camera would have to do. I think that it turned out quite nice for a first attempt.
I decided to put the sun directly behind her head to act as a hairlight, underexposed by two stops on the sky and set my flash to full power.
I think exposure turned out pretty decent, just wish the flash was off to the right a bit.
Thanks for looking and have a great Canada Day

Great shot Dave. Which flash did you buy? A really useful tool is Gary Fong's Lightsphere. It will improve your flash photos 150%. It is my favorite diffuser.
