River Esk Cab
 |
|
| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
This is a shot of the cab of the River Esk 15 inch gauge steam loco on the Ravenglass and Eskdale railway. The only thing that takes away from the originality is the red plastic handled steam valves at each side of the cab! We had a lovely ride in June on this train!
Designed by Henry Greenly and built in 1923 by Davey Paxman of Colchester, the locomotive was equally at home hauling trains of heavy stone, or the increasingly busy passenger services. The valve gear was replaced in 1928 and for a brief period a steam tender was added. A new tender was added in 1970. For many years painted green, the loco is currently in black livery. |

Hello, Les.
You know I'm a sucker for this sort of stuff.
Fabulous!
Wouldn't you just love to get your hands on all those steam valves and levers, tap the dials with your finger, then ease open the regulator? The sort of thing every schoolboy dreams (or, at least, used to dream) of.
Very well captured indeed considering the poor lighting conditions on that footplate!
A great note too. I must visit that place sometime.
Best Wishes,
John.
Nice detail in the pipework and an interesting PoV. Good note too!
Cheers, John.
