Third in a series.
This is a close-up detail of a barrette (hair clip) that is one of my own creations. The material is polymer clay and the technique used is called Mokume Gane after a Japanese metal-working technique of the same name. It involves the layering and deliberate distortion of different coloured artists modelling clays and metal foils. The object is fired, sanded and polished. No paint or varnish is involved |
