Surely she can't be so gray already! Our once honey-gold dog Sarah has more gray now than ever, and moves a bit slowly some days. She's still game to chase down squirrels, though! She just moves a bit more slowly some days; then again, so do we.

She's pictured here in the late-afternoon light. A trustworthy sentinel, she stands guard against marauding hordes of goldfinches at the feeder just outside the window. What would we do without our protectors? ;)

She tested the air with that marvelous nose of hers and her ears played backward, listening for alerts. I thought it interesting how the slightest twitches of her ear and muzzle blurred, yet her eyes stayed sharp in focus.

Hand-held, no flash, in natural light. Cropped, sharpened and framed in Irfanview.

oh she's beautiful Kim.. grey and all :-) my oldest kitty in england got quite grey as she aged.. although with black cats it seems to be the gingery brown that increases most ^_^ what a graceful lady she looks and this is a wonderful portrait.. the natural light illuminates her perfectly against the dark background and the detail is so sharp.. really fabulous!

give her a hug from me :-)

Ayda

Excellent use of lighting. Did you use Irfanview for the black backgroud too? Great job.

One of the most beautiful dog photos I have seen recently. It can only be made by a dog-lover. Excellent! I like the lighting, composition, sharp focusing and soulful look in the dog's eye.

Very well done! A superb portrait of your best friend. I like ethe eyes perfectly in focus, and the whiskers and ear blurry. Excellent!

Excellent cliché de ce chien Kimberley. J'aime beaucoup la lumière et le regard. Bravo. Amitié, Patty.

Hi Kimberley, amazing handheld shot at 1/30. Though I would have liked the whole portrait being sharp. Amazing to me everything how a "simple" picture can easily convey a strong message which is so nicely written in the notes.... Well done, Yours, Jan

Excellent capture, Kimberley. As you said, the partial blur with the eyes still in focus, combined with the black background, make this a perfect dog portrait. TFS.

wow...just wow! The look in those eyes is breathtaking, she looks so sad. Probably because there is glass between her and the goldfinches. Such a detailed picture! Great shot!

Great portrait Kimberley, Amazing how the blurred nose and ears are evident, yet the eyes are perfectly in focus. I like to see the movement there. Cute dog your Sarah.

Beautiful portrait of your darling Sarah. The light on her is perfect, and she looks wonderful. 100% excellent.

Hello Kimberley, I love very much this portrait of your dog. It is very well taken, great close-up and details. She looks to be interested in something.

I like that you captured it with natural light. Also the black bg is perfect to enhance her.

Well done. Yan

Hi Kimberley
This is a beautiful and expressive pose your old friend is giving you. Black and white seems to emphasize her her gaze and works very well here. If only we could read their minds and they ours. I love the natural light and the way it brings out the detail of her coat. Well done.
TFS Janice
