[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Again, I've been struggling to think of something clever for Helen's Friday Theme this week.

This picture (not the same picture) was taken at the same time as this one. It is a picture of the flower Kniphofia, more commonly known as "Red Hot Poker". To make the picture look a little more "abstract", I distorted it using the swirl filter and increased the contrast and saturation quite a bit.

Shot in RAW and converted and edited in PSE6.

Hello John,

The effect of the swirling on the Kniphofia, is amazing. It looks like a beard that has been dyed!
Now a psychologist would look for hidden meaning in this; I just like it!

Kind regards,
Bev :-)

Hi John

Beautiful abstract image, good composition, nice warm colors and lighting. It is perfect for the theme.

Hello John, this one made me smile...Red hot pokers are not one of my favourite flowers, but I do really like your treatment of this one!
The 'swirl' effect has created an interesting shot. And of course, what could be warmer than a red hot poker!
I like the framing too.
Tfs, regards Jean.

Hi John

Oh wow this effect is superb! a very good idea for the original image which emphasises the warm title and your PP work here is spot on to give a definite abstract view. Lovely work with good informative notes to help others too

TFS and for joining in the theme

kind regards Helen
