[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
The advantages of a small digital camera are that you can hold it quite straight with only one hand, you can reach up high and photograph whatever’s on the other side of a wall, through railings, under floorboards or as in this case, out of a train window. Plus, each photograph costs you nothing, so you can keep on snapping away until you get it right.

To the British enthusiast, this is probably one of the best sights in the world, a Deltic locomotive on the end of your train! The British Rail Class 55 Deltic is a beautiful locomotive and has no real straight lines, it’s all ‘1960’s’ sensuous curves and sleekness and was designed to look impressive for hauling the Flying Scotsman services. And it’s two thundering Napier Deltic engines certainly announce is presence wherever it goes!

I love the reflections of the station, caught in the curves of the nose. The photograph was taken with the zoom at max, which gives it a more dynamic look.

For any rail enthusiasts who want to know: The Deltic is, of course, 9016 ‘Gordon Highlander’ and was captured at Ramsbottom on the East Lancashire Railway at the rear of the 16:00 Bury-Irwell Vale.

A great capture, Phil. I, too, like the lines of this train - it is gorgeous and I love the purple color against the green.
