Hmm. First of all, Hi Sarju! I think you are striving for something here but may have just missed it? I think the photo lacks a subject, and my eye keeps looking for something to latch onto. On the one hand, it is not uncommon for a group having hiked to a vista to all sit very much alone in their thoughts for a time, taking in the surroundings. I think this is what we see here. I want to gravitate to the central woman who is most in focus and visible, but she seems so hard and unhappy. If she were showing more awe or joy maybe it would have worked out. Also, with no idea of the view, it is hard to appreciate. I would have been inclined to photograph the man looking away, and caught him in focus, probably gaining more scenery with a different dof. My two cents worth, since you asked! - Maura
A few unfortunately negative points: It never works well to have a person in the front blurred and focus on something in the back. Better to leave that person out. And if you want to show people enjoying nature that nature should look enjoyable. This one looks a bit nondescript and bland. The best part is definitely the pensive look on the girl's face in the middle and the position of the guy on the rock - oh yes, and the colors of the girl's sweater, very natural.
They seem to be enjoying the beautiful view of the nature.. good shot, Sarju :) I like how you place the faces of your two friend on the right side, and the focus in the middle.

Hello Sarju.
I have a mixture of feelings here, like something begun but still not finished. As mentionned by hojper,I am disturbed by the out of focus of the first person and the blurred background.
A strong element is the guy in the back, looking away at the scenery, sharing it with us.
The light is good as are the colors.
So maybe different angle will have work better, this is a promising beginning.
Regards
Charles

Hi Sarju - I agree with most of the previous comments - Options you have for this kind of shot are either a wide angle lens (28 or 35mm) or step back some distance (without falling off the cliff). Second, focus on the first girl on the right, and lastley, use the highest possible F-Stop to get the greatest depth of field. In addition to a clearer photo, it will include more scenery in the background. The use of a small tripod always helps to use lower shutter speeds. In general, try to have a photo concentrate on one item you would like to express to the viewer. In this one, you tried to present the 3 people and the scenery, and ended up somewhere in the middle. Try selecting one main theme you want to project, and work on that.
Once processed and scanned, you can also add a lot to the photo by using software such as Photo Elements 2 to alter the contrast, brightness etc ... and get rid of any scratches like the one running just below the guy's knees. Please don't take my comments in a negative way, I think you are willing and trying hard. Hope this informattion is helpful - TKS - Sam
