The Mackinaw Bridge is the 5 mile long bridge that connects the upper & lower Penisula of Michigan together. Once a year, on Labor Day anybody can walk across the 5 mile bridge. This is one of those walks.

Original, very original! The vanishing point to the right is animated by the person walking into it. This focus of movement and direction is balanced and offset by the ship sailing to the left. The composition is close to the golden ratio (where the rule of thirds came from). I like the crisp clarity of the pop rivets and the walking lane. The detail intensity and contrast leads the eye into the photo on the right and then left to the ship. Brilliant work!

Hi Rick,
Interesting and good composition, good b&w and angle.
Best regards,
Ralf

You created a good perspective:
1) the focus of the compo is on the right
2) the focus is on a walking man
(you were lucky to have a man in plain colour there,
I think more colours would spoil the picture,
or were you waiting for someone like him?)
3) the column behind the man - keeps the eye moving
4) to say nothing about the vertical supporting ropes
5) black and white which helps see the shape
The ship is a nice disturbing element :)

By the way, the walking man covers tiny shapes
in the distance that would spoil the picture.

Though there's a lot of "stuff" on the right
the compo is well balanced.

I like the lighting too: good contrast.

I found another shot with a similar perspective (shifted aside): When You Are Going... by gezimania.
