[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This was taken in Arches National Park. The lighting came from the west at about 6:45PM. A polarizing filter was used to darken the sky and brighten some of the colors.

To be honest I forget what this particular arch is called. Does anyone know by chance?

The natural lighting, and the filter option that you selected, highlights the colours in your photo well Brian. A nice shot - congratulations.

Le filtre à très bien fait sont travail...les couleurs et le contrast sont excellent...le câdrage est bien choisi donc le résultat est superbe!!! Nice Shot Brian!

Hi Brian, this is a great shot the DOF is good and the old sad tree give the photo the depth it needs. Good job. Thanks for sharing

It's interesting that the arch is perhaps the more significant subject (given the title of the national park), which is amazing in its own right, but it is the tree which really makes the photo. The arch, or rather the rocks which form the arch, must be very old and weathered. This can also be said about the tree, not so old but well aged and weathered. The upper limbs also fill some of the empty space of the sky. I would also add that the colour of the sky and rocks works really well. Althought the fore-ground vegitation looks a bit busy, being in shadow reduces this to a point where it's not really a distraction.
