Hi Folks,

I ran out of banana supply. So I am toying with a chicken and an egg for my Food-O-Graphy theme series. I think the chicken is equally gorgeous like the peach I posted earlier in the series. After all, chicken and egg (not sure which one comes first) are foods too, right….? :)

I bought a fresh and clean whole bird chicken. It was slaughtered in the neck to comply with the halal requirement for the Muslims’ consumption. I tediously stitched the cut in the neck to make the bird looks perfect. It needs only a simple skill and a little patience to do the stitching….:)

Together with an egg I took from the kitchen, I laid and positioned them on a black velvet on a table near the window. The lighting was free and natural, from outside and through the window.

On the bird’s pose….of course a dead object can’t pose for itself…..:) I found that it was more painstaking to handle than the life chicken! I used skewer sticks here and there to support some parts of the chicken to make it looks ‘alive’. And here is where creativity is most needed.

I purposely did not remove some little feathers left on the head and below for I believe too clean a shaving does not look attractive and kills the appeal…..:)

Thanking you in advance for viewing and your kind words.

Agoes

Props: a whole bird clean chicken, an egg, a black velvet and free outside lighting.

Hi Agoes,
This is an interesting picture. Reminds me of that old question, what came first the chicken or the egg? I like the work you did for this shot. The image is sharp and the details are wonderful. nice use of the natural light. Nice work.
Regards,
Kevin

i like your chicken pose this. the lighting/colors and textures of the skin really look fresh, nice details too. your presentation/combination seem like naik pangkat from this series of art. tfs, Agoes

Your food-o-graphy series appeals to my somewhat warped sense of humour. This one particularly is one of a kind.
Brilliantly executed.

Great idea, painstaking work and the photography itself is well done with good lighting, composition and clarity.
Good work
