[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
A languid pool of cool, crystal-clear water reflects canyon walls of Navajo sandstone, a welcome oasis in a desert of bare rock. This wilderness paradise is not quite as perfect as it appears, however. In order to reach this viewpoint from which the scene appears to best advantage (given my limited lens selection), I had to carefully pick my way through thick vegetation interspersed with poison oak, which grows profusely on the sandy banks.

I could tell you the exact location of this pool, but then I would have to kill you! ;->

Repost Note: since first posting this image, my neg scanning skills have greatly improved, allowing me to correct the overblown highlights in the clouds while improving (IMO) the luminosity of the shaded areas. This is a "straight" scan: no burning, dodging, or other localized corrections applied! For comparison, click "Original Version" at left.

Such a beautiful place Don. I like your composition, the inclusion of grass in foreground and the tight natural framing in both side of the rocks. A very tranquil place.

A beautiful image! Clear, sharp and the composition leads the eye right around the corner to the upper right corner where the light almost calls you.

Hi Don, nice composition, reflection is sharp in detail, well photographed, only minor thing is the watermark logo bottom right of photo, I would have lightened it so it's not a distraction

This one is terrific! Beautiful details and colours and a wonderful capture of the reflection on the water.

This being a scanned image it feels a little low-contrast and low in detail but maybe that's just because we're accustomed to the too-sharp Digital imagery?

Great shot, belongs in a coffee table book.

Nice work, Don, this belongs on the wall of some nice restaurant! Reminds me of the canyons I once roamed in AZ on various hikes in the desert mountains there. TFS Great memory. Excellent compo, color, etc. Sharpness is acceptable.
