[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
A wild rose hip poking through the nicely textured snow, lit by the setting sun, offered a good opportunity for a hand-held macro shot. By no means a spectacular view, I found it nevertheless quite pretty. The prickly wild rose (rosa acicularis) is Alberta's provincial floral emblem, and is often a very small shrub.

Actually I think this is pretty cute and the way the red stands out against the snow is very striking, it has high impact. The white of the snow itself is very clean, no OE. Lovely sharpness on the plant and the depth of field works nicely, some good sharpness in the snow/ice crystals.

I have the same lens and I think it's a beauty - you've done it justice with this shot.

Hello,
beautiful photo, I like the contrast of red and white, very sharp
best regards
Ryszard

Nice capture Roland, striking contrast and colour

Simple but quite effective picture - the rosehip stands out well against the snow and there are some good details. The control of the exposure is spot on - whites all have good detail retained.
Thanks for sharing
Mark

I like the singleminded capture and the textbook composition of this one Roland. The details on the snow especially are great.

I'm almost inclined to find the white balance a little too warm, although I understand that it's setting sun, I would've liked a cooler white for the snow - but that's just me!
