Wooden BhimaKali Temple in Sarhan about 180km`s from Shimla.
This temple considered to be a grand specimen of Hill Architecture in a mix of Hindu & buddhist styles.
The present Bhimakali Temple is a new one, built in 1927.
The old temple, nearby, has an amusing story to it – it got tilted slightly in the 1905 earthquake, and then miraculously straightened back with a subsequent tremor!
New Temple has 3 stories Upper floors have windows and balconies with great wood carving.
200 year old gold image of the godess Bhimakali is enshrined on the first floor which is worshipped only during Duesshera Festival.
Temple complex has smaller temples too, dedicated to Lord Raghunath & Lord Narsingh |
