I passed near this house very often and never noticed it was abandoned. Then I passed with a camera in hand. A camera lens tends to make you see stuff that you would not normaly notice.

Hi Sue
There is a lot of over-exposure from the sun (naturally) as it is always hard to capture like this. And the dark shadows around the house may be too dark.

BUT I do like the rays of light that falling from the roof and shining on the angle over the brickwork to the door. That does look good.

If you pass this place often try and get a shot with the sun shining on this side of the house.

Do you use any post processing software so you could have lightened up the shadows on the house? A free one is Photofiltre and many use it here.

You're right when you said that carrying a camera makes you see stuff that you would not normally notice. What is worse is when you don't have your camera with you and you really, really wish you had it to take this special scene that you'll never see again.

Cheers
Janice
