I am not sure what the plant is, I do know that I was out walking at 0700 on the weekend, and was very very cold! I used a wide aperture to blur the background, and isolate this stem in particular

Hi cerys,

Nice wintery shot, well captured with good detail and DOF. Those frosty berries look quite tasty although quite possibly poisonous. Sorry cant help with an id.

Hey Cerys!
The subject within itself is interesting, the deep vibrant red against a generally uniform back drop, with the addition of frost, certainly becomes more unique and more vibrant than anything else.

On the technical side of things, I think the decision to not focus on a single "bundle" of 'fruits' creates no real central focus to the photograph. I think it takes away from the vivid nature of the plant itself, and confuses the eyes to look at the whole, instead of focusing on the most important, the fruit and its interaction with the frost.

I'm going to look at some of your other photographs!
Cheers

Hello Cerys!
Really lovely colours in your frozen image!
Perfect focus and beautiful blurred background!
Best regards!
Lili

Hi Cerys,

I like this a lot \nd I don't think that having the proper name for this plant would add anything to the shot. The fruits and leave are not all in focus but I like the effect from the granules of frost we can see how cold it is and having the bg blurred really makes the whole thing stand out. TFS

Jon

Hello Cerys
Whatever the name of these fruits, they hang down like grapes yet look very appealing.
I love how you isolated the frost covered fruits, good dof with blurred background making their beauty really stand out.

Hi Cerys.

Very nice shot. The details of the plant and the colors are nice. I guess you got what you wanted. ;-)

I really like this shot - the icy highlights on the leaves and fruit are so tactile. Makes me want to touch them (particularly since it's been so hot here this summer).

Greetings Cerys,

This is absolutely stunning. Congratulations!

A beautiful crisp winter scene, well spotted and composed. The ice formation is sharp and colour contrast awesome with the berries.

As for what type of berries...I'm affraid I don't know but they look like they'd be great in a hot desert pie. :-)

Great photo Cerys. Well done! Tfs.

Martyn
