| This palace was built in the mid 1800's by Mariscal Lopez, president of Paraguay. Most of the labor was performed by children, because the men were fighting in the great Paraguayan War - The War of the triple alliance in which about 85% of the men over the age of 12 were killed. It is truly a feat that the building was ever finished, but it sure looks good. |
