[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Friday's Theme, HPP, was taken during a visit to Yosemite National Park last month. As luck would have the park was 'socked in" fog, snow and rain the two days we were there. However, Yosemite Valley is a magical place no matter the weather.

PP: The original RAW was almost a B & W image right out of the camera. I processed it with Topaz Adjust plug in's tabs to pull out the colors hidden in the shadows. The color tab was also able to pump the blue in the dull sky. Sharpening was also done in Topaz. Back in CS3 a bit of vignette was added prior to framing and sizing.

I'll add the original image in a WS for comparison.

It is very easy to process an image "over the top" with Topaz Adjust, in this instance it was my intent to take the effect about half way over. Comments welcome.

Hello Daniel!
Excellent PP work, great effect, wonderful colours!
Fantastic atmosphere!
Best regards!
Lili

Since I am an artistic photographer, I love HPP on photos. I can see boring with my own eyes, I want to see the MOOD behind the shot! This is nice, very nice pp work, lots of drama here! What a beautiful place! Someday! I hope to get there!
B-)
Linda

Hi Daniel.

This picture is simply beautiful. The composition is great and the Topaz processing very effective. I installed it but didn't play with it yet. It seems I miss something. ;-)

Hello Daniel,

Fabulous!
This looks like a colour plate out of an old book such as 'The Lost World'.
You have created an atmosphere of mystery and anticipation!
Well done.

Kind regards,
Bev :-)

Beautiful image.

I cannot believe the amount of detail you were able to achieve from the original.

Must have a look at that Topaz software.

Cheers,
Jens

Hi Daniel
What a change from the original, you turned it into a painting. I have seen a few posts from topaz and was not all that impressed with the results but this is different as the results are great. Must have a look at this program.

Hi Daniel:

Very nice work.
Beautiful colors and nice composition.
Yosemite is one of my favorite places. I had never been there in winter time.

Jafar

Looks like you are enjoying and becoming an expert with the Topaz Adjust software. I like how you brought out mood and detail without going too far. It's interesting how the Topaz Adjust seems to use the underlying whites or negative blacks within the image. I also like the original for its natural look. Your eye for composition has succeeded again:) Top notch!

a great image, nicely processed, Daniel, I like the results, it did bring out the drama of this place

almost looked like HDR, excellent post processing Daniel. love the strong colors.

Hi Daniel,
Impressive work on this photo!
Despite the HPP, this landscape looks so naturally! I particularly like the soft blue tones which makes a superb coloured harmony with the brown silhouettes of trees. Excellent rendering of the mist!
Beautifully done! Annie

striking effect and a big improvement on the original just shows never write off a poor photo as there maybe more to selvedge.tfs

Wow. The filter definitely managed to bring out the colors. Comparing the original to this version, it's hard to believe they are the same photo! Looks really good.

Hi Daniel

Great scene with professional PP work.
Excellent colors and DOF. Fantastic details on branches. BRAVO

wow you really made it come to life with the PP work, the original is dull however this is a nice makeover, i bet regardless of the weather this place is breathtaking,
thanks,
scott

Hi Dan,
It's beautiful.
Quite a different image than the original, much more powerful.
Kind of like a soft focused Ansel Adam's shot, but in color - if that makes any sense.
Great processing work.

Hello Dan,

I am a bit out of sequence, and late in participating in various Friday's themes. This one is indeed very spectacular.

A natural environment, artistically post processed . i see it very well printed , in large format for resale in the Park Boutique. Superb work,
Bravo!
Robert

Hi Dan,
Sorry for not being more present on the site , gosh my hard disk failed ( my slave too ---a wreck --), had a new one ( this time bigger ) put in and furthermore took me a little while to download all my usual and favorite programs all this while working 50 hrs/week ,hey ,,,, i am back !
Good job with Topaz here though you restrained from too much processing --half way hum hum can't imagine all the way over , lol ,i really like it just as is ,,, good details overall , looks like HDR but i know it's Topaz , great manipulation my friend, a most photographed attraction in this part of California i reckon but still you have got one excellent version here ,your own ,
Tfs this place with us,
Carol
