Gannets from a dog's eye view

My contribution to the Friday theme; "from a dog's eye view".

Here two gannets (Bep and Toos) seen from a very low POV. Put my camera on the ground and took some shots of these fellahs with this picture as result. The position of the sun was far from ideaal, but I gave it a try anyway.

I agree on the comments that this picture suffers of a lack of contrast and appears a bit hazy and dullnes. I will re-post this picture soon. Thanks for all the constructive critiques!

Hi Hans,
A great experiment. Yes, a dog's eye view.
Fantastic clearness, great focus and POV.
Great depth.
Very special presentation.

Nice shot Hansie!! I'm afraid if my doggies were this close, the birds would be dinner! Nice work, very sharp, love the wide angle here, nice clarity, could use a LITTLE more contrast..but that's just moi!
Good job!
B-)

A very nice theme.Good composition and perspective...I did a workshop, hope you do not mind.

hi bro.
a good pov but requires a tad contrast.
it must have been amazing to be amongst these beauties.

did they peck you?

Hi Hans, great POV you were lucky to get tis close. I don't mind the photo the way it is, I think the workshop has ruined the sky, maybe to much pp work there. Great photo all the same. TFS

Hallo Hans,

Prachtig, ook op je buik gaan liggen net als ik? (LOL)
Ik dacht van niet hoor.
Nieuwsgierig lijken ze me wel.
In de lucht waren ze mooi maar zo ook! Toch mooi van kleur en scherp.

Great shot of the gannets Hans. This reminds me of Muriwai. A great 'up close and personal' shot of these awesome birds. TFS!

You did well. Not an easy pov. However, it lacks contrast.

Hans, You could have stood up and had a "bigger dog"!!! LOL Creative work. How in the world did you get this close to these gannets? I like the shadows on the sand too.

Hans my son's dog would have loved this view, secs later you would have had great action shots as they took flight ..lol
Looking at your focal lenght, obviously they are not skiddish, nice approach shot.
I would not worry about the sun, fact that you could get that close is great.

I agree with Linda here (that's a first!!) There is a great lack of contrast Hans - the birds look very cloudy. Haven't you bought your new monitor yet?

I see there have been workshops done and they may be a bit bright, but the birds look a lot better.

I do love their posed - what a super place to visit the birds and see them so closely.

Cheers
Janice

a really effective dog's view for these gannets :)

Hi Hans,
Nice point of view of a dog here,
Excellent details and well presented for the theme.
good colors and deep of field,
Excellent done.
Michel

Hans

Leuke inzending Hans.

Hello Hans,

A superb pov with the main artists on stage performing very well. The composition, dof and details are all really good but sadly, the contrast is sadly lacking.
I've looked at the w/s and see that the shot has that extra 'umph' there.

Have a good day,
Bev :-)

At 18mm focal length, you must have been close Hans, well done.
I like the low POV, it is different and unexpected.
A little OE, but still a good'n.
Pete.

New monitor on the way I hope... rather hazy looking photo from this end...

Good choice though Hans...just the view a DOG would get...
but you wouldnt catch me laying down there.... wouldnt want to get dirty..LOL..ok so I wouldnt be able to get up again either...LOL

Cheers
Dawn.

Hey Hans - I need my contrast boosting goggles on for this one LOL... I love the low POV, really unusual view and the pano crop is a good idea 'cos it concentrates the view on the birds...

Cheers
David ;)
