[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Why this photo?

It is the first photo I ever took! This was October of 1974, using my dad's instamatic (thus the square format). I was absolutely hooked, and have loved photography ever since.

Actually, after all these years, I like the shot itself [Joshua and my first car(!) a 1972 plymouth satellite]. It seems to have an odd, slightly "Bill Eggleston" quality that I like.

Must find that neg so I can scan it in for a better quality!

Anyway, that's the story of this print, and why I started this portfolio with such an odd choice.

For other Treklenser's first photos, follow the theme link for this photo (and post your own!).

[p.s., somehow I accidently linked this photo to NYC INVASION theme...I asked the admin to remove that link but for now it is still there!]

Hello Karl

Welcome to TL (TrekLens) :)

TL is a fantastic website for all level photographers (beginner to professional).

U can learn from other like how they took the photo where why and much interesting things in their note. So always try to give notes which also help others to understand what was in ur mind to take particular photo :)

moreover critique/comment system lets u to know that how others perceive ur capture, same is the way u critique others. Critique can be +ive and -ive, its good to have an honest views from other :)

I’d also recommend u to visit TOS page for better understanding with TL policies :)

It’s very good that u’ve started with ur very 1st photography n I love old film effects (personally)

I hope u’ll enjoy this site :)

TFS (Thanks for Sharing)
Cheers

Welcome to TL. Looking forward to seeing more of your work :)

Hello Karl,

I came across your new gallery today while looking at the critiques as they come in. Welcome to TrekLens.
I agree, it's Egglestonian! I would have also thought of Martin Parr, whom I recently discovered. I posted a YouTube video of him discussing his work in the General Forums.
I've been looking for my first photograph. I know it's buried somewhere in Mom's home, but it will be a while before it turns up. I remember it vividly. It was taken from the car as we were leaving Amish Country in Pennsylvania. The horse and carriage are in focus while the rest of the image is distorted from the movement of the car. I want that photo! LOL. It was taken just a bit before your photo here, and I believe it was with an Instamatic.
In any case, enjoy the site and I look forward to more of your images.

Kind regards,
Jim

How lucky that you have your first photo Karl! I can't remember mine, I'm sure I was a young child. There is something interesting about this, whether it's the purple hues, or the old car, the dog...I think it's cool you posted it first! I will look forward to many good shots from you!
Welcome to TL!

Karl, you wondered (in the Forums) why you couldn't see your photo when you first started your theme - I think you might have added it to the TREKLENS NYC INVASION theme by mistake.

How good to see your first photo, and I must go looking for the album with my first one in now.

What camera are you using now? I see you next photos all look like scanned images.

Cheers and welcome to TL
Janice

Fabulosas instamatic, otros tiempos. Me encanta tu idea de las primeras fotos. Un saludo :)
