[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
The Museum of Natural History in London is a Victorian masterpiece and so this photograph aims to show some of that style but also having natural light illuminating the two figures. This is a place of learning and I thought the image of two people being naturally illuminated worked well into that theme.

technical details: I almost deleted this image as it appeared over exposed, when in fact it was just that I had correctly exposed for the background, thus the momentary spot of light through the window (the reason I took the shot in the first place) was over exposed. Making an adjustment upon RAW coversion, adjust about -1.5 stops, gave an image I was pleased with. Some of the distractions have been cropped out (although it was a hard debate - two figures to the right, though in the shade, were staring up into the magical light that had appeared). Sharpening destroyed the feeling of the image, so I blurred much of the highlights.

This is a lovely image and I appreciate your decisions in presenting it. When I first saw it I felt the urge to do a workshop sharpening it and then read your note. I agree with your decision with this lovely soft light. I did a workshop, however, as an exercise to develop my eye that I will post. I played with the idea of applying a more artistic filter, to emphasize the mood, but I liked your image too much to go that far with it. You did well here Dan. The geometry is spot on and the composition really fine with the repetitive arches running along the left side and the couple as focus in the foreground as well as the fine staircase in the distance. I like this one very much.

Very interesting! Loved this photo and I agree with cgrindahl about the workshop thing, but it's fantastic anyway!

Great shot and PP. It looks like Harry Potter's school :-)

Light, here, gives all to this photo. I think, sometimes we need dark spots to let the light do his work. It's exactly what's happen here. You catched all the mood that beautifull place can offer..
Great success.

sometimes sharpening is not the right choice
or let me say there may be a better choice as you've shown here

wow, the holy light was so beautiful and fantastic throught the windows, although it's uncomfortable for people using as an exhibition space,in the eyes of a student majored in Architecture...but i love both the light and the huge stairs below the age-olded roof, great work after PS,Dan!!

Nice catch of the atmosphere. A bit to soft focus for my taste, I did a workshop to see the effect of sharpening.

Such a beautiful picture and atmosphere! Excellent work. best regards Clanyi
