The atmosphere is perfect: the bright light, the colour walls the narrow strets, the rails, the portuguese sidewalk and strets made of stone black and white...
Excellent. I see the young boy walking and, I don't know why but I think it could be your soul with a cameara and a book in the bag.

Talk about the light here Teresat, the shiny tracks following the curve in the street are a good lead-in into the shot , the stroller is a fine addition proving Lisbon is not totally deserted at this hour of the morning i think i would have seen him on the lit side of the street though , Lisbon's streets and alleys are fun to discover ,loved this place!

Bonsoir Teresat,

I like the flat perspective found in your picture. The architecture and the street is very typical of old cities in Europe. Here it's still a yound country and we don't have that much of these scenery except in old Quebec City. Good exposure where the human subject looks kind of mysterious in the shade. Nice shot and TFS.

Good evening, Teresa -
You have really created something special with this image. Such a wonderful atmosphere conveying the warmth and old world feel of the city. We feel as though we are strollers walking casually behind this man and taking in the sights, sounds and smells of the town. The tram tracks lead the eye around the frame, and the sunlight against the buildings is a fine contrast with the shadow on the left. Excellent!

This young man with the bag over his shoulders reminds me of...me. When I was living in Ljubljana I was just like him. Bag...good book and my camera in it...going to sit by the river and enjoy the day. I think that I will fall in love with Lisboa when I will see it. I think I am in love already...

Hola querida Teresa:
Difficult to choose between the two. In the colored one I like specially the yellow of the houses, that gets warmer in the upper plain, against the dark road with bright tracks. On the BW version I like the way you dissapeared the sign, and here the tones are more balanced. I pick both of them.!! each one expresses a different mood in the path of the young man.

what can I say? I can't wait to walk these streets!
although I love b/w, I prefer this version because the colour of the wall is irresistible.
I like very much how you have the guy "cover" the 4th door, so that we can see three doors and three curved lines on the ground (the tracks and the curb), it creates a sense of harmony and peace.
and you chose a very special moment to capture that special bright light that makes Lisbon so unique =)

Normally when we face a shadow and the subject is in it, the exposure can be very tricky and the result often not desirable.

In your capture, this view is artistic with the curves of the rails and the light on the far wall to bring everything in sharpness and clarity, whereas the man with the back facing the camera is not too sharp but yet still command a prime view position of this composition, losing a bit of detail but I still like to see his figure. And that is why I call it artistic shot. I like your right framing.

As usual Teresa, another beautiful shot. It was your images of Lisbon that first attracted me to your gallery, and of course you always select interesting shots even outside of Lisbon too. Your perspective of that lovely city is poetic and a joy. Here it is again. Probably a common event, a young man/boy walking through the old section of Lisbon with beautiful light falling on a colorful backdrop.

I want to cut and paste all the Portuguese versions of "kind regards", but I'm afraid I might choose one that's too personal from what's been written by other members who have commented so I assume my Spanish will say it best

Difficult to add to the many perceptive comments here!

For me, this shot is at once inviting and secret. I imagine all is calm, and I can only hear the young man's quiet footfalls.

With the reflection of the sunlight on the stone path, I can see and smell last night's rain evaporating into the fresh morning air.

Makes me want all the more to visit Lisbon one day!

That's a very moody, little bit mysterious exposition of this old part of Lisbon. I've been here, when I was a small child but can't remember too much of the city. :) I like the way that darkness and vivid yellow and green tones appear at the same time, giving the viewers an ambivalent feeling. Well composed photo with th walking young man, it suggests loneliness too.
