[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Thank you everyone for your kind comments. I'm sorry about the initial lack of note, so here you go:

This is a single exposure taken in the early morning in Port Angeles, Washington, on the Strait of Juan de Fuca. On this particular morning I had gone looking for a sunrise but was treated to anticlimactic, brilliant, silver glare as the dawn lit up unenthusiastically like it was on a dimmer switch (pretty typical of the PNW). If I remember correctly, I was walking home a little disappointed by lack of magic light and suddenly noticed how brilliantly blue the water seemed. I didn't really think this was anything special at the time and it took me nearly a year and a half to get around to doing anything with this photograph.
I went through a period of prolific photography in 2007 and probably took a good twenty or thirty thousand exposures that year. Now that I've become too busy with school to ever pick up the camera, I've started to satiate my photographic longings by cruising through my archive.
I had originally rejected this image as I was in a phase where I was pursuing more abstract subjects. Now that I stare at books, walls and fume hoods all day I really don't give a damn about my abstract work and just want to see nice view for a change. This image is not HDR but involved a great deal of dodging and burning. I wish I had bracketed as I wouldn't have lost highlights in the clouds.
Thank you all for your comments.

Nice HDR type effect
Notes would be helpful

Hello Jonathan,

Very good HDR job!
Congratulations.
Sergio

Fantastic. All in right place: colors, shadows... Congrats...

nice hdr work

Very dramatic image with excellent processing work. Gives the image a surreal feel. All of the blues work well in my opinion. TFS

This is a very dramatic image. I'm guessing HDR, and done very nicely. The only thing that irks me is something behind the tug - the gangwalk or whatever it is called - that sort of throws the composition, otherwise very good.

Regards,
Phil

PS. A note would be good too.

Hi Jonathan
Professional metering you've done here, so you reached excellent lighting and amazing atmosphere + extraordinary colors and highlights.
Regards, Alireza

Very effect photo Jonathan, a note would have really helped though. Perfect colours and reflections, well seen.

TFS,
