Today for something entirely different...
With summer approaching, I start to think about all the great summer activities .. one of the best for me is attending outdoor music festivals.
This one was taken at the annual Edmonton Folk Festival in Edmonton Canada. The festival site is located in the middle of the city, on the banks of the river - a perfect location with the main stage at the bottom of the hill, and the crowd sprawled across the face of the hill (1000's of people). No obstructed views!
Pictured here is the main stage. When the festival gates open in the morning, there's a mad rush for this hill. Everyone stakes out their territory with blankets and tarps. There are about 10 smaller workshop stages which have music all day. In the late afternoon everyone returns to this stage for the evening concert, which features all the big names of course.
This was taken from where we were sitting one evening. Yup, it's a long ways from the stage, but the sound was great no matter where you were. Four days of great music, fantastic atmosphere, great food ... and it's outside!! How could it get any better??
I know that technically this isn't the greatest, the light was very harsh at this time of day, but I thought it might be interesting for some to see this.
Cropped and sharpened.

Hello Trudy,
I find crowd scene difficult to compose but you nonetheless presented us with an attractive and engaging scene from the festival. Lots of good details and the image compels to visit Edmonton on summer one of these days. My best regards...Danilo

Good POV Trudy - well composed and lots of bright colour.. Not a city I've been too yet. When I spent a few months in Calgary the people there told me 'not to bother' with the village up the road but I have to say that it looks very cultered 'up there'..

Cheers
David
