[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
It used to be that this dock and beach were never without kids running around, swimming, catching frogs and just plain doing the things that kids do. Their grandparents would sit on the shore, reading a book and watching.

Then slowly, the children grew up. They had ambitions of their own, and they stopped coming to spend their summers here. More time went by, and only the grandparents were visiting. A few years later, she passed away. He still comes up to cut the straggling trees, and mow the grass, and whenever he does he looks at the lake as though he can still see the life and happiness it once held.

PP: Desaturated dock and boat, saturated water, cropped, resized and framed.

Hi Bryce,

Interesting image. Nice POV, I like the mix of B&W with colors. The overexposed sky give the image an endless feeling to infinity. Simple subject, with an artistic presentation. Nice work and TFS.

Alain

By the way, welcome on TL.

Hi Bryce,
A great photo. I love the post-processing here that gets your message across very nicely. Looks like a painting.

Welcome to TL.

bonjour Bryce,

un très bel effet,

bravo

Nicely composed photo - I like too the gradient between 'washed out' light at the top of the photo blending into the more normal light range at bottom.
I hadn't realised that you'd desaturated the boat and jetty 'til I read your notes - it's very subtle.

David

Hi Bryce,

I can see why your mom liked this photo. A simple shot, yes, but your presentation is spot on. It conveys the bitter-sweet reality of life.

Well done.

Best regards,
Werner

hi Bryce

I accept the choice of this photo, it is the best in your gallery. Because of the light, boat, the tyre and the wooden plankwalk. And water.

Very clean and the calm stillness is very outstanding feature of this scene.

Very thoughtful.

tfs, bill
