Iron County Courthouse ca. 1860
 |
|
| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
This courthouse in downtown Ironton (1860) was the scene of bitter fighting during the American Civil War and still retains the scar from a cannonball on its east face. Both the courthouse and the gazebo are on the National Register of Historical Places.
I shot this one about 10 minutes prior to yesterday's photo of that great house. There was just so much opportunity during this morning, the sky was just about perfect, as was the light.
This is just another example of the history found in the Arcadia Valley in Southeast Missouri.
I used DxO to straighten out the angles of this shot, as it was shot at the bottom end of the Sigma 10-20mm lens. It did a fair job of removing that lens distortion and still left the buildings looking fairly natural. Then I exported the file as a DNG to Photoshop, did some limited post-processing, such as toned down some of the bright highlight, added the frame, re-sized for TL and then sharpened slightly to compensate for the shrinking of the file.
Have a great Friday and a better weekend! |

This is a really cool shot, Reed.
you worked for this one.
Excellent software enhancing. Polorized light works wonders on the blues and has made the whites scream out at us.
Beautiful.
Good notes too,
well done

Belle composition dont j'aime les tons sombres qui font ressortir de très belle façon la beauté architecturale de ces maisons.
Amicalement
