Cleveland Lloyd Dinosaur Quarry, Utah
Summer, 1998
Despite being a super-hot day at CLDQ...Corrie sat for the longest time, transfixed on the tree.
The CLDQ where this was shot is one of the most remote and desolate corners of Utah we have visited. It contains, however, the densest concentration of Jurassic dinosaur fossils ever found (over 15,000 bones have been excavated and there are thousands more awaiting excavation). Not an easy find, but for directions visit the BLM website for it.

I like this shot because it has a surreal feel to it for me. Corrie was unlike any dog we have ever had: very contemplative, very focused.
Shot on Kodacolor 100, scanned in from the negative using a Nikon Coolscan 5000 scanner.
Unlike some of my other scans, this one scanned in mostly OK (with little grain). It's still a little grainy, especially in the sky, which is distracting.
I still need to keep practising on this scanning and resizing thing.
As always, workshops welcome should you have ideas on improving this print.

There are some dogs that are like humans. Makes me think that they not only have intelligence, but spirit and soul. Great capture. As the dog, I could be looking at the remains of that tree, with interesting shape, for a long time. TFS
