Spring flower

| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
One of those photos where you try multiple times ... (braketing).
I first came close to that field of flowers in the Imperial park/gardens (public part as the Imperial castle park area is closed all year long except one day). Tried a few general pics and then tried closer on this flower.
I tried at multiple apertures, f2.8, f3.5 but the rear part of the flower was too blurred. I went for f6.3 which seemed acceptable.
I am often trapped into "too much aperture DOF issues" for close objects with this lens (16-35 f2.8 L USM)... not complaining about the lens, which is high quality but rather the photographer ;-)
What aperture do you (usually) use for such pics (as a safe bet), what are your thoughts ?
I guess this photo might deserve a cropping and make it square format, unsure about the balance then, let me know your thoughts as well. |

Hi Gilles !
In truth a macro and play nice surprise!
A beautiful contrast of colors.
Have a nice day,
Adrian
Hi Gilles, how's it going?
I like your photo, but unfortunately it looks a bit under-exposed, so I did a workshop on it to compensate for the under-exposure, and show you how it can look. I hope you like it. I think you will.
Focus, DOF are good, bokeh is smooth: good!
Oh, I'm not in favour of cropping, I think I like the composition as is. Perhaps a little bit on the right (not sure).
Well done, TFS.
Best regards, Dimitri.
